Conditions of Application for the DayOne Accelerator (2026 cohort)

1. Scope of Application

The present conditions of application of Basel Area Business & Innovation, Dufourstrasse 11, 4010 Basel, Switzerland (“Basel Area”) govern the modalities of the registration and application for the DayOne Accelerator (”Program”).

By registering, applicants confirm that they have read and accepted the following conditions.

2. Eligibility

Individuals and teams from any country may apply to participate in the Program. This also applies to individuals and teams which have registered a company with the commercial register or have founded a society.

There is no legal entitlement to participation in the Program. Basel Area with input from the Program’s selection committee (“Selection Committee”) decides at its sole discretion about the admission to the Program, no justification is required. Basel Area is entitled to cancel all or part of the Program at any time. We will notify applicants who are selected for each application step, but we will not provide detailed individual feedback on admission decisions or application rejections.

An application may be withdrawn in written form at any time by the applicant. In any case, there is no entitlement to restitution of the submitted documents.

Participation in the DayOne Accelerator is free of charge and equity-free. Startups selected for the program are not required to grant equity in their company in order to participate.

3. Application process

Application to the DayOne Program takes place in two steps:

  • Step 1: Online application
    • Startups must submit their application via the online application form available on the DayOne website and hosted on the Babele platform.
    • Applications open on 31 March 2026 and must be submitted no later than 31 May 2026 at 23:59 CET.
  • Step 2: Selection interviews
    • Up to 40 shortlisted startups will be invited to online interviews with the Selection Committee on 25 or 26 June 2026. 
    • Following the interviews, 15 startups will be selected to participate in the DayOne Accelerator 2026 cohort. 

Applicants assure that they are the owners of all rights to the submitted documents and entitled to their submission.

There is no entitlement to restitution or the returning of the submitted documents, both during and after the application.

Participation in the DayOne Accelerator involves a hybrid program combining online mentoring sessions and two in-person events in Basel. 

The program will run from 7 September 2026 to 15 December 2026, starting with a kickoff bootcamp and closing innovation showcase, both in Basel.

Certain startups may be offered participation in the DayOne NEXT post-accelerator support program and/or additional support, including potential investment opportunities or non-dilutive funding. 

Such opportunities are offered at the sole discretion of Basel Area and its partners and are not guaranteed.

Startups selected for certain post-accelerator funding opportunities (DayOne NEXTmay be required to establish a legal presence or R&D activities in the Basel Area in order to receive such support.

4. Confidentiality

Any documents and information submitted and all communication during the online application process (“Application Documents”) will be considered as non-confidential and may be used in connection with the application in the DayOne Accelerator. Applicants agree that the Application Documents submitted during the online application process and the information related thereto will be accessible to the Selection Committee as well as to DayOne Experts & Advisors and other experts and partners of Basel Area without any restriction.

Basel Area assumes no responsibility or liability for any confidential information and/or documentation submitted by applicants during the online application process as well as for any intellectual property rights and/or know-how contained therein.

5. Liability / No Right of Appeal

Any liability of Basel Area for any direct or indirect damage, including, but not limited to damage caused by loss of profit, is excluded to the maximum extent permitted by the law. Basel Area is not liable in the event of force majeure. The liability for auxiliary persons is expressly excluded in its entirety.

Applicants shall indemnify Basel Area, the Selection Committee, Partners and Experts & Advisors for any claims by third parties of an alleged infringement of copyright, industrial property rights, trade secrets, and other third-party rights in connection with the information and documents submitted by the applicants.

Basel Area accepts no liability for the correctness of statements made, including statements of the Selection Committee, Partners, Experts & Advisors or any other persons participating in the Program.

No legal rights arise from the application in the Program or the related preparation and submission of documents (e.g. no entitlement to any fees and/or expenses).

Basel Area’s decision is final. There is no recourse to the courts and no right of appeal.

6. Privacy policy

The privacy policy of Basel Area for the Program is available here. Applicants acknowledge that they have read and that they accept the privacy policy.

7. Miscellaneous

Due notice shall be given of any changes to these conditions of application. 

If any provision of these conditions of application is found to be invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions shall remain valid and enforceable. Any invalid provision shall be replaced by a provision that most closely reflects the original intent and economic purpose of the invalid provision. The same principle shall apply in the case of a contractual gap. 

These conditions of application shall in all respects be governed by the substantive laws of Switzerland, including all matters of construction and validity, without giving effect to its conflict of law provisions. 

The ordinary courts at the domicile of Basel Area shall have exclusive jurisdiction with regards to any claim and/or dispute arising out of these conditions of application.
