DayOne Experts: «Artificial Intelligence – the holy grail of healthcare innovation?»

Most new technologies are over-rated in the short term, but under-rated in the long term. Will Artifical Intelligence (AI) in healthcare follow this trend?

With great hype, machine learning and AI are capturing the imagination with self driving cars, voice controlled assistants like alexa and programs becoming world leading GO and Chess players in hours.  These technologies are already making inroads, and replacing humans, in professions such as accounting and law but the impact of these technologies has not yet materialized to solve health challenges.
Questions such as data access, data privacy, regulation, and safety appear still to be unsolved and will be particularly challenging in healthcare. Meanwhile, many commentators are already starting to panic about job losses. This shows that society at large has yet to fully understand and begin to deal with the disruptive nature of these technologies.
So - between science fiction, myth, and real-world applications - where does AI actually stand?
Find out more at our next DayOne Expert event taking place on June 7 and which is organized in close partnership with the Life Science Forum Basel (LSFB), starting from 2 pm, at the Biozentrum of the University of Basel. There will be a summary and panel discussion starting at 6pm for those who can’t make the earlier time.
Together with the Keynote Speech by Prof. Dr. Susan Gasser, Director of the Friedrich Miescher Institute, we will have experts, entrepreneurs and healthcare innovators sharing their insights as well as an Open Panel Discussion to explore the topic further.
