Digital Health Accelerator 2022 Winners revealed

New ventures reimagining the future of pain management – Meet the 2022 cohort of our DayOne Digital Health Accelerator!

As 2022 just started, we are very excited to announce the winners of our 4th run of the DayOne Digital Health Accelerator. For this edition, we are focusing on Pain Management, a well-underserved field while so many patients are experiencing pain during their healthcare journey and across therapeutic areas.

We have been impressed by the diversity of the 128 applications received from 43 countries. This year was particularly competitive, as 16 of the teams made it to the final selection round and only 3 winners were to be selected.

We are extremely happy to announce the 3 ventures chosen to participate in our 3-month acceleration program running from mid-January until April 2022.

 

Meet the startups

Our entrepreneurs all have at heart to improve health outcomes for patients and benefit healthcare professionals’ intervention. We are proud to support them on their ambitious journey.

Hope Care – Headquartered in Obidos, Portugal, the company has developed HCAlert, an innovative digital health solution for patient remote monitoring. Available in Portugal, the team aims at launching next on the markets of DACH, BENELUX and the Italian region.

Their solution HCAlert is a Digital Health solution that allows to collect health data from patients at home. It implements automated clinical rules and procedures in order to alert health professionals about the patient’s condition. This allows to deliver remotely a secure and fast medical assistance for better care of patients. It reduces costs for hospitalizations and emergency episodes

Rescape Innovation – Headquartered in Cardiff, United Kingdom, the company will further develop its solutions utilising immersive technologies and/or associated technologies within Healthcare and Wellbeing to positively impact care pathways and patient outcomes. Building out from its 3 solutions currently available in the UK market, it will go into a wider European and International Market.

Rescape’s first product – the now medical device DR.VR® is being used within the NHS, Care Homes and Hospices. DR.VR® is a virtual reality distraction therapy solution that primarily supports pain relief, anxiety/stress and improves patients’ experience.

The iteration DR.VR® Junior is designed for Paediatric departments and is being used with leading UK Children’s hospitals.

During the pandemic Rescape developed DR.VR® Frontline with a targeted outcome of reducing the anxiety of NHS frontline staff.

TrainPain – Headquartered in Tel Aviv, Israel, TrainPain is a new digital health technology. t delivers neuroplasticity-based exercises to promote the health of people’s sensory nervous system. The company will launch digital therapeutic for chronic pain in the U.S., European, and Asian markets

The team is targeting the problem of chronic pain, in particular neuropathic / nociplastic pain, and helps patients reclaim their life from persistent pain. Their solution involves the measurement and rehabilitation of somatosensory function through gamified tactile somatosensory perception tasks.

About the DayOne Digital Health Acceleration program

We are kicking off the Acceleration program on January 17th, 2022, with a one-week boot camp. The 3 teams will then benefit from 3 months of tailored 1:1 coaching, dedicated expert meetings and workshops, as well as introductions to our ecosystem partners to help them grow and scale up on the European markets.

The Accelerator program is customized based on the individual needs of each selected team to maximize their odds of success. Newly added this year, the ventures will each receive up to 15’000 CHF funding for targeted activities that will contribute to develop them into sustainable and investible businesses. The program culminates with a Demo Day event showcasing the teams and their progress.

This year the DayOne Accelerator will launch three new programs to invest in early-stage digital health solutions in Switzerland, ready-to-launch digital ventures in the field of life sciences, and medical devices using advanced technologies.
